Driving Your Online Sales FORWARD
You have just invented something better than chocolate. “Impossible!”, we hear you muttering! This is not fake news, so read on. You have invented 100% healthy, rich and creamy chocolate bars without artificial sweeteners,
and here’s the deal they’re (drum roll): calorie free!
You have your early retirement planned… or maybe not. In order for consumers to purchase this chocolate bar they need to pick up their phone, dial, wait, punch in a menu number and then place an order manually.
Your phone lines are blocked, consumers are now frustrated to the point of reaching for their own stash of chocolate and finally they think it must be a scam or it’s just not worth it. After all, with the exception of that little pizza place on the corner who uses the phone to place orders? (Come to think of it a pizza sounds good).
In order to market even the best product in the world you need a sustainable outlet, one that defies time zones and operates 24/7. You need an ecommerce store so your customers can pop in at any time, from any place and on any device. And here folks is how you grow your ecommerce business: Shopify!
Fortunately for you (and 100,000 other retailers around the world) there’s Shopify. (Not to be confused with Spotify, which is a digital music service). Whether you are selling chocolate or cosmetics, Shopify is the simple and trustworthy way to sell your product. Shopify takes care of everything from marketing to payment. The app is easy to use, and most importantly easy for your customers to use.
Your next question is most probably, “What about my brand identity?” Shopify allows you to control your look and feel. You are able to add products, manage your inventory, track sales and more. It’s hassle-free ecommerce, which means you can dedicate your time to the nuts and bolts of your business.
As both ecommerce and official Shopify experts, Volt Lab will focus on maximizing Shopify’s features to help drive your revenue and improve your customer experience. If you work with us you’ll hear this word used over and over: Conversions. That’s when the sale actually happens! At Volt Lab we are driven by one overriding goal: conversions. Sweet dreams are made of conversions!
To this end we include powerful search and categorization filters so shopping on your site is a pleasure for customers. They find what they’re looking for easily and glide over to the place you want them to be: The check out counter. We achieve this by utilising best practices. Product pages convert users to add items to their shopping cart guiding people down the conversion funnel to complete the checkout process. Nothing is accidental; every step leading up to conversion has been carefully strategized.
Part of this process includes conducting A/B test designs to lower cart abandonment. If you think a runaway bride is a sad sight, someone dumping their trolley before checkout will make you weep even more! Here’s how we keep your customers’ hands firmly on the trolley bar:
- The initial phase of the project focuses on the design. We create an appropriate & enticing look and feel for your brand. We understand the balance between an eye-catching design and one that also resonates credibility and trustworthiness. Remember you are asking consumers to purchase something they haven’t touched, smelled or tasted. We compensate by making your design a tangible entity.
- We understand and implement a design hierarchy that is vital for an easy user experience. In short we guide the users’ eyes to the vital information. Too much clutter and confusion and they’ll turn into that runaway…shopper.
- Think of a brick and mortar business. Would you create a beautiful store and then just leave it? No, you would revamp your window display and make adjustments to the interior. The same applies to your online store. A retainer contract allows us to test and tweak until your conversion is optimum. We aim to grow your monthly sales by 40% at the end of a six months’ period.

Ecommerce Website Development – The ins & outs
The Shopify ecommerce website platform is highly recommended and a reputable hosted service. There is no need to buy a hosting package, you simply need to own your domain and we can point it to your Shopify site.
Volt Lab is totally au fait with the Shopify platform. We know it, we use it, and we get it. We even speak Shopify’s language, called Liquid, which enables us to pull dynamic information from Shopify and display it in our design.
We’ll write the HTML/CSS and test it in a variety of browsers and devices. It’s important to be transparent upfront that Shopify is a third-party product not owned by Volt Lab, so we aren’t responsible for any issues you have with
Shopify, such as downtime or bugs in the control panel. However the support team at Shopify should be able to assist you.
We use cross-browser testing tools to ensure your site works on different devises, different screen sizes and with different browsers. There are no short cuts to browser testing, if anyone tells you otherwise see red flashing alarm
sirens and run!
Desktop: We test with current versions of major desktop browsers including those made by Apple (Safari), Google (Chrome), Microsoft (Internet Explorer), and Mozilla Firefox. We’ll also test to ensure Microsoft Internet Explorer 8 for Windows’ users gets an appropriate, possibly different, experience. We’ll implement a single column design for Internet Explorer 7 and for Windows. We don’t test in other older (somewhat redundant) browsers unless you specify otherwise. If you need an enhanced design for an older browser, we can provide a separate costing.
Mobile: Testing popular small-screen devices is essential to ensure that a person’s experience of a design is appropriate to the capabilities of the device they’re using. We test with:
• iOS: Safari
• Android 4.1: Google Chrome, Firefox
• Android 3.2: Browser, Firefox
We currently don’t test Blackberry OS or Blackberry QNX, Opera Mobile, Symbian or other mobile browsers. If you need us to test using these, we can provide a separate costing.
Your Ecommerce website LAUNCH
Once you’ve tested the ecommerce website area and are happy with its functionality, we’ll make the Shopify theme live on your website and point your domain over to the new site.
Now that your ecommerce shop is open and thriving, we empower you with Shopify training. At Volt Lab we believe knowledge is power, and we love sharing our knowledge with our clients.
Web Support Retainer
We are available to assist you with our Shopify control panel, fix bugs, add design enhancements or anything else you need on a monthly basis so your site remains current and is constantly updated. Read more about web maintenance services.
Advanced Ecommerce Analytics Set Up
Your Shopify site already comes packed with analytics, both in Shopify and in Google Analytics. However to receive the most powerful data takes more time and work. This isn’t a problem for us, as we’ll configure your Google Analytics account so you have a keen insight into where you are receiving your highest converting traffic.
An image speaks 1000 words. Remember users can’t pick up and prod your product, they need to see it. First prize is to use the actual photographs of your product, as opposed to stock images. If you supply us with images please be aware of the following specs:
- Graphic files must be in an editable, vector digital format
- Photographs must be in a high-resolution digital format
If you choose to buy stock photographs they can be purchased from libraries. The cost of buying stock photographs or a photo shoot is not included in this contract. However we are happy to quote separately on this and provide you
with the best stock images.
We are experts at the many different forms of pull marketing, from content marketing, to blogs, events, SEE, social media and more. A retainer with Volt Lab ensures that you are regularly publishing content, engaging prospective customers on social media, and driving people into your purchasing funnel.
You are welcome to supply your own content. The alternate is to use Volt’s highly skilled in-house copywriters. They have been trained in website copywriting. They are on the same digital page as the rest of the Volt Lab
team, which is to drive conversions. You want your product to sell. We know how to do it. Simple.
To complete the work outlined in this project scope we’ll need approximately nine weeks depending on when we receive feedback at each milestone. Upon signing the agreement we are prepared to start work immediately.
